TRIATHLON BOOT CAMP - WINTER 2010

SARASOTA, FL

FEBRUARY 4-7, 2010

Had enough of riding you trainer, running on ice, and filling your laundry basket after one outdoor workout?  Sure you have.  You need an escape, and there is nowhere on the East Coast that provides a better mid-winter escape than Florida's Gulf Coast - the home of Mid-Atlantic Multisport's newest Triathlon Boot Camp.

This four-day camp will be based at the exclusive Lido Beach Resort (www.lidobeachresort.com) on Lido Key, a barrier island adjacent to Sarasota and world-renowned for its sparkling white sand beaches.

Triathlon Boot Camp provides multisport athletes with a unique opportunity to learn from top coaches, receive individualized instruction, and get in some great training with a group of other like-minded athletes all in an enjoyable, non-intimidating environment.

Camp Includes:

  • Lots of swimming!  Both in an outdoor 50 meter heated pool and in the clear, pristine waters of the Gulf of Mexico. There will be a focus on swim technique in the pool and open water skills/race simulations in the open water.

  • Cycling on the flat and low-traffic roads of Lido and Longboat Keys and Myakka River State Park

  • Running on the white sand beaches of Lido Key

  • F1/Circuit brick workout sessions -- alternating back and forth between biking and running.

  • Transition practice sessions.

  • Informative lectures on key training and race-preparation topics.

  • Optional "fun" activities for participants and their families.  Kids are welcome!  Everyone will receive a packet with discount coupons and special offers available exclusively to Triathlon Boot Camp participants.

  • In addition to the training and education, we will allow ample time for everyone to relax and enjoy all of the fun and attractions in Sarasota -- beach, bars, shopping, restaurants.

WHAT KIND OF SHAPE DO I NEED TO BE IN?

This is a question the staff hears constantly in the months leading up to the Boot Camp.  The good news is, you don't need to be race-ready at all.  The camp is designed to start your season off right -- with a strong emphasis on technique and low intensity aerobic efforts.  Many of our attendees are preparing for their first triathlon, while others are seasoned veterans striving for that "competitive edge".

Don’t be concerned about not being able to keep up.  These are all NO DROP WORKOUTS. There will be plenty of others swimming, biking and running at your speed!

For the group rides and group runs, there will be cue sheets and maps, as well as ride leaders to be sure that everyone knows where they're going, regardless of what speed or distance you want to go.  For the swim sessions, we will divide athletes into smaller groups and lanes based on ability.

Here's a sample of feedback we've received from triathletes attending previous Triathlon Boot Camps:

"Not only was the camp enjoyable, but the other attendees at the camp were such wonderful people…everyone was so positive and supportive.  I made so many new friends that I will continue to stay in touch with and hopefully train with.  In fact, some of us are already emailing each other and trying to get together for rides and runs." - Laura M.

"I've been meaning to write to thank you once again for a wonderful weekend.  It was so great in so many ways.  Your staff was amazing!  I learned more that I could have anticipated.  I will definitely send more people your way next year." - Lauren D.
