TRIATHLON BEACH CAMP

SEPTEMBER 26-28, 2008

Join Mid-Atlantic Multisport for a weekend of biking, running and open water swimming at the Jersey Shore.  This camp is perfect for athletes competing in full or half iron distance races this Fall and those looking to get a head start on the 2009 season.  In addition to supervised and supported training sessions, the camp includes informative roundtable discussions on topics such as:

  • Effective Training and Pacing for Full and Half Iron Events

  • Open Water Swimming Techniques and Strategies for Triathletes

  • What To Do and What To Expect During Race Week

  • Training and Race-Day Nutritional Considerations

  • Planning Your 2009 Season

WHO IS THE CAMP FOR?

Triathlon Beach Camp is for individuals having a solid endurance base plus one or more years of multisport training and racing experience.  As part of the Camp, attendees will have the opportunity to complete a series of field tests from which we will determine your appropriate training and racing heart rate zones.  Participants will need to bring a heart rate monitor to the Camp, as we will be using them throughout the weekend.

WHERE IS THE CAMP HELD?

Triathlon Beach Camp takes place in beautiful Stone Harbor, New Jersey. Stone Harbor is conveniently located 40 miles south of Atlantic City.

HOW MUCH TRAINING WILL I DO?

The amount of training is really up to you.  There will be one key long bike session (35, 50 or 100 miles), one key long run session (10-20 miles) and one key open water swim session (1-2 miles) during camp hours which we encourage everyone to participate in.  There will also be several shorter, optional open water swimming, biking and running sessions focusing on technique and sport-specific skills.

Cue sheets, fully-stocked rest stops and support vehicles will be provided for the long bike and long run sessions. Several groups will be formed based on ability and fitness levels.  These sessions are intended to be easy, aerobic efforts.  Don’t be concerned about not being able to keep up.  NO ONE gets dropped during these sessions.  There will be plenty of others riding and running at your speed!!
